This Grand Piano is probably our most intricate and detailed design to date. A heartfelt thanks goes to a local piano store, who was generous enough to loan us a somewhat rare book that described in detail just how real grand pianos are made.
Our piano was constructed and decorated as close as possible to the manner in which a real grand piano is constructed and decorated. We were limited, however; due to the size difference. So, in order to achieve the overall effect of a real grand piano some elements were slightly over dramatized. We incorporated the use of brass as often as possible, hinges, insets, riser pole, etc. We used gold and black satin braid to decorate our piano just as a real grand piano is decorated.
The piano lid is fully functional, even up to the brass plated insets, so the riser pole can position the piano lid in five different angles of the "open" position, again, just as a real grand piano functions.
During one of the final stages of construction a passer by asked if our piano played real music. Well, at first we chuckled, then we couldn't resist the temptation and although it was never in the original plans, we attached a music box on the inside of our Grand Piano. Of course, you must know what tune we selected . . . . . . . that's right! The theme song from the Broadway Hit Musical "CATS".
Now, don't you think that any cat, especially yours, would love to curl up for a nap inside this elegant piece of art? We can safely say that they would probably love to do just that, and what a beautiful picture that would be.
We consider this our masterpiece!
